this weeks news & views

Hi Everyone,

Last week saw a busy and very positive weekend for the club with 12’s 14’s and Under 18’s all in action.
The under 12’s competed in the second round of the Plymouth and District under 12’s league and came away with two wins out of two, the feedback about our young players from the opposition parents on the day was fantastic to hear the young side not only showed great skill but great sportsmanship also, well done all!

Our Under 14’s were in action in a triangular tournament versus two Patriots teams and again came away with two wins. Coach Tyler was incredibly pleased with the progress of the inexperienced group and watching them grow as players and as a team is great to see. Both the under 12’s and 14’s had great support at their tournaments, thank you to all those parents and players who came out to support their club mates, it is really appreciated.

The under 18’s came up short unfortunately in their away trip to Truro against Saracens, although we were in the game for the majority of the time, Saracens pulled away in the end to secure victory. The team will have chance to bounce back from the defeat this evening (Thursday 16th November) as they play in the men’s Plymouth and District league in what will undoubtedly be a tough game against last season’s league winners Totem Timberwolves, your support would be greatly appreciated, the game tips at 8.15 at Marjons.

This Saturday (18th November) sees just the Under 16’s in action at Tor Bridge with the national team playing Cardiff at 1.00 pm and the regional lads against Cornwall at 3.00 pm. If you can come and make Tor Bridge a fortress again as you did two weeks ago it would be amazing , the club support has been amazing this season and has been positively commented on by the opposition, let’s keep it up! Massive thank you to the Under 16’s parents that made cakes and teas and coffees at the last home games and raised over £40 for the club, thank you!

Regarding fees, it is becoming incredibly frustrating for volunteers of the club to have to keep chasing game day playing fees when they are not being paid on or before the game day. We strive to keep the costs down to a minimum, training fees have not increased in over 6 years (in fact they were reduced then) and apart from a £1 admin fee so we can collect game fees electronically to cover the cost of collection we have not increased these for the same period.
When we host games, we have to pay for court hire, referees and table officials and when away of course pay for minibuses and fuel, all of which have gone up significantly as we are sure you are aware. We know that finances can be tough at present and as always if payment is an issue please email into the club or speak to your coach or team manager in confidence. We really would appreciate the payment being made on the day of the game.

That wraps it up for this week, hopefully see you on Saturday!

Thanks for your continued support. #keepitgreen
